Angie has been teaching piano students from ages 5 to adult, for 11 years. She enjoys all skill levels. She likes the challenge of motivating students to work up to their musical potential. Angie is a member of the MMTA and has had students compete in the MMTA contests. Her other experiences include director of music at Peace Lutheran Church in Coon Rapids, and teaching classroom music in the Osseo MN, public schools. Angie is also licensed to teach K-12 vocal music and K-12 classroom music. Her extensive education includes 17 years of piano lessons, 7 years of organ lessons, and 8 years of voice lessons

Andrew is currently a college student, working on his music degree with cello as his major instrument. He has played cello in several Anoka-Hennepin District ensembles and graduated from Andover High School. When he finishes his music degree he will become an orchestra director and maybe someday a professional cellist. Andrew is very excited to begin his private teaching career at Anderson Music Academy, and has many things to offer beginning and intermediate cello students.

Nichole started teaching at Anderson Music in the fall of 2007. Previously, Nichole was a band director at Calvin Christian School in Edina. She is currently licensed in music education, instrumental K-12. In addition to private instruction, Nichole attended a flute study program at Griffith Univeristy Music Conservatory in Brisbane, Australia. Her performing experience includes piano and saxophone with the Bethel Jazz Orchestra and flute with the Bethel Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony.

Jake is one of the newest additions to the Anderson Music faculty. Jake is currently finishing he music degree at McNally Smith College of Music, where he is studying Guitar Performance. He is profecient in various styles including Rock, Jazz and Contemporary. Beyond teaching, Jake has been playing professionally for 10 years in various bands and has also performed in some theater production ensembles.

While at Gustavus Adolphus College, Janet was hired as an on-campus piano teacher and paid accompanist. She accompanied 5 vocalists, various instrumental soloists, and specially formed groups. She also taught piano lessons at a private studio in St Peter, MN, where she had students of all ages and abilities. Janet keeps busy playing for weddings, funerals, and other events. She is on the faculty of Big Lake High School where she teaches civics, history, geography and economics.

JANET JANSEN

Her previous teaching experience includes seven years at Mesabi Community College in Virginia, Minnesota where she taught music history, theory, choir, applied piano and voice. Prior to teaching at the MCC Magee taught piano in her home studio for fifteen years, involving her many students in MMTA contests, festivals, exams and recitals. She has been active as an accompanist for numerous choirs in the Twin Cities area and in 2000 she performed a concerto with the Mesabi Community Orchestra. In 2004, Magee was awarded a Cecilian Society Grant to participate in the Cours International de Musique, an International chamber Music Festival in Morges, Switzerland.

George started with Anderson Music in January of 2007. Before joining us at Anderson Music, George was finishing up his degree at McNally Smith College of Music in Guitar Performance. While at McNally Smith, George worked as a tutor for professor Jay Fuchs in the Music Theory Dept. George is experienced in many styles of music including rock, blues, classical / fingerstyle, jazz and bluegrass. When he's not teaching, George plays around town with the 7 Corners Band.

Gene was one of our first teachers at Anderson Music. After receiving his bachelor degree from Bethel College, Gene has completed additional graduate work at Bemedji State University, Arizona State University and St. Cloud State University. Most of Gene's career was spent teaching music in the public school system teaching Instrumental Music and Vocal Music at Tracy High School and Centennial High School. Gene has also served as the Minister of Music at First Free Church and Hope Presbyterian Church.

Brian was one of our first instructors at Anderson Music and is an extremely accomplished musician. Brian has performed with many orchestras around the country including the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra, the Dakota Valley Symphony, the University of South Dakota Orchestra and the Chapman University Orchestra. In addition to private instruction, Brian has taught elementary and high school orchestra in Garden Grove, MN and was a guidance councelor at Park High School in Cottage Grove, MN.

DRUM SET / PERCUSSION MUSIC THEORY
 

Andrew started teaching at Anderson Music Academy in November of 2007. At St. Olaf, Andrew was the percussion section leader and principal percussionist for two years. Andrew plays and teaches drum set at all levels. He also plays and teaches most of the concert percussion instruments such as snare drum, mallet instruments and tympani. As a theory and composition major, Andrew will be able to take music theory students in his private lesson schedule. As a composer, he has had original pieces of music performed in student and faculty music recitals during his time at St. Olaf.
